Week 8 Recap

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans

The Titans completely dominated this game. Their defense shut out the Jags in the first half while their offense scored 27. Marcus Mariota had a good game, 18/22 for 270 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a team they ran for 214 yards, 123 of those coming from DeMarco Murray. Murray also added a touchdown on the ground. The Jags scored a bunch of points in garbage time. Titans 36 Jags 22.

Top performer: QB, Marcus Mariota. 18/22, 270 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Washington Redskins

Both offenses in this game played amazing. Kirk Cousins threw for 458 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis, and Jamison Crowder all managed 90+ yards receiving on the day. Washington also managed to run for 100 yards as a team. Andy Dalton also had a good game, he threw for 284 yards, 1 rushing touchdown, and 1 passing touchdown. Tyler Eifert and AJ Green both gained over 100+ yards receiving. The game went into OT tied 27-27. With 2:1 3 left in OT the Skins had a 34 yards field goal and missed it. So…. Another tie. Bengals 27 Skins 27.

Top performer: QB, Kirk Cousins. 38/56, 458 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Indianapolis Colts vs Kansas City Chiefs

Alex Smith got hurt in the game and the Chiefs put in Nick Foles. After that the Chiefs offense looked explosive. Foles was 16/22 for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Chiefs defense forced 2 turnovers and held Andrew Luck to only 210 yards. Dee Ford had 3.5 sacks for Kansas City and as a team they racked up 6 sacks. Chiefs 30 Colts 14

Top performer: LB, Dee Ford. 3.5 sacks, 5 tackles, and 4 QB hits.

Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots

Tom Brady and the Patriots just keep on rolling. Brady was magnificent against the Bills once again. He threw for 315 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Rob Gronkowski had a great game as well, catching 5 passes for 109 yards and 1 touchdown. The Pats scored 10+ points in every quarter except the 4th. Pats 41 Bills 25

Top performer: QB, Tom Brady. 22/33, 315 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Houston Texans vs Detroit Lions

The Texans defense stepped up tremendously in this one. Only allowing one touchdown from the Matthew Stafford and the Lions. They held Detroit to under 300 yards as a team. Houston had a big second quarter scoring 14 points and that was basically enough to keep them on top for the rest of the game. Texans 20 Lions 13.

Top performer: Texans defense. 13 points allowed, 289 yards allowed.

New Orleans Saints vs Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks offense struggled all game long. They only managed to get 74 yards rushing and Russell Wilson didn’t throw a touchdown against that Saints secondary. If not for a first quarter fumble return for a TD by Earl Thomas, Seattle would’ve only scored 13 points. The Saints offense did much better. Tim Hightower ran for 102 yards on 26 carries and Drew Brees ran a touchdown in from the 1 yard line. Brees was good in the air as well, throwing for 265 yards and a score. Seattle had a chance to win the game with seconds left on the clock but couldn’t get in the endzone from the redzone. Saints 25 Seahawks 20.

Top performer: QB, Drew Brees. 27/35, 265 yards, 1 rushing touchdown, and 1 passing touchdown.

Oakland Raiders vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Derek Carr went OFF! Carr went 40/59 for 514 yards and 4 touchdowns. His two star wide outs played great as well. Amari Cooper caught 12 passes for 173 yards and 1 touchdown while Crabtree caught 8 passes for 108 yards. Jameis Winston didn’t have the game Carr did but he played decent. Completing 50% of his passes for 180 yards and 2 scores. This game went into overtime. We were on our way to another tie until Seth Roberts took a pass from Derek Carr to the endzone with 1:45 left in OT. Raiders 30 Bucs 24.

Top performer: QB, Derek Carr.  40/59, 514 yards and 4 touchdowns.

New York Jets vs Cleveland Browns

The Browns looked poised to win their first game of the season… In the first half that is. They were up 20-7 and then it went downhill. The Jets ran off 24 unanswered points in the second half. The Jets dominated on the ground, running for 3 touchdowns and 171 yards as a team. The Browns scored a late touchdown to make the game look closer. Jets 31 Browns 28

Top performer: RB, Matt Forte. 25 rushes, 82 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Arizona Cardinals vs Carolina Panthers

Now this looks like the Carolina Panthers team from last season. They jumped out to a 24-0 lead on the Cardinals. They sacked Carson Palmer 8 times and scored on a fumble return by Thomas Davis. Carolina ran for 141 yards as a team and Johnathan Stewart ran in 2 touchdowns. Carolina 30 Arizona 20

Top performer: Carolina defense. 20 points allowed, 8 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, held David Johnson to 24 yards rushing.

Denver Broncos vs San Diego Chargers

Denver’s defense was just flat-out dominate against the Chargers. They limited Philip Rivers in the passing game as Rivers was 20/47 and threw 3 interceptions. 1 interception returned for a touchdown. They also sacked Rivers 4 times. The Chargers stayed in the game because of their defense as well, strip sacking Trevor Siemian once and returning an interception to the house as well. But Denver’s defense was a little to dominate for Rivers and company to muster up much on offense. Denver 27 San Diego 19.

Top performer: Denver defense. 4 sacks, 3 interceptions, blocked XP attempt, and 19 points allowed.

Green Bay Packers vs Atlanta Falcons

Everybody was expecting a shootout and that’s exactly what we got. Both Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan were sharp. Rodgers completed 28/38 passes for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns. 3 of those scores went to almost unrecognizable names like Jeff Janis, Trevor Davis and Geronimo Allison. Ryan completed 28 of 35 passes for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns.It was a back and fourth game throughout. GB took the lead with 3:58 left on Rodgers to Janis touchdown pass. Atlanta would respond with a 11 play 75 yard drive capped off by a touchdown from Matt Ryan to Mohamed Sanu with 11 seconds left. Atlanta 33 Green Bay 32.

Top performer: QB, Matt Ryan. 28/35, 288 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys

This was a tight NFC East battle. Neither Dak Prescott or Carson Wentz played great. Wentz completed 32/43 passes for only 202 yards and 1 touchdown. Wentz did fumble the ball twice. Prescott was 19/39 for 287 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Ezekiel Elliot had 22 rushes for 96 yards on the day. Dez Bryant played great, catching 4 passes for 113 yards and 1 touchdown. That touchdown came with 3:04 left in the 4th and it proved to be the tying touchdown as the game went into overtime. In OT Dallas went on a 12 play 75 yard drive and scored a touchdown to win the game. Dallas 29 Philly 23.

Top performer: WR, Dez Bryant. 4 receptions, 113 yards and 1 touchdown.

Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears

The Bears looked more like the Vikings than the Vikings did on Monday Night. Chicago sacked Sam Bradford 5 times and forced 2 fumbles. Minnesota only ran for 57 yards and only averaged 3 yards a carry. Jay Cutler came back and played well, he completed 20/31 passes for 252 yards and 1 touchdown. Jordan Howard had himself a big day, running for 153 yards on 26 carries and he added a touchdown. Bears 20 Vikings 10.

Top performer: RB, Jordan Howard. 26 rushes, 153 yards and 1 touchdown.
