Another two weeks, another pay-per-view. Another Smackdown show this time, it’s No Mercy! Once again, Adam and I are bringing to you our WWE No Mercy predictions!
No Mercy Kickoff: Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger
Adam: I’m struggling to come up with any reason why Swagger could win outside of a DQ. This one shouldn’t take too long.
Nick: I think this is going to be an ongoing thing. Swagger got the win on Smackdown because of a bad submission call, so I think Corbin will win because of some other controversial call.
Nikki Bella vs. Carmella
Adam: Carmella has been surprisingly good as a heel throughout this feud, and she’s dominated Nikki so much that it’s okay to give Bella the victory, and both competitors will come out looking like strong women who could contend for the title.
Nick: I’m picking Nikki Bella to beat Carmella here. Carmella has been chasing Nikki Bella around and beating her up since she’s come back, so having Nikki lose would just make her look incredibly weak.
Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
Adam: This is one of those situations where both men need a win right now, so I’m going to give it to The Viper. WWE can either continue the feud from there or turn Bray’s losing into a storyline (Sister Abigail?).
Nick: Bray Wyatt desperately needs a win at this point. He’s lost to Kane twice in the past month, and beating Randy Orton might help to make people take him more seriously again. Randy Orton can afford the loss, and who knows? Maybe we’ll see a run-in from Luke Harper…
Smackdown Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
Adam: I’m picking Becky to retain here, but I hope this match gets a good amount of time, as both competitors are excellent in the ring. One thing I expect is an Eva Marie appearance after the match, to restart the feud she had with Lynch.
Nick: Becky Lynch will probably be retaining here. She’s got to be the female face of Smackdown, so I don’t think she’s losing the belt for a little while. She was Smackdown’s number one female draft pick for a reason.
Smackdown Tag Team Championship: Heath Slater and Rhyno (c) vs. The Usos
Adam: On a recent edition of Talking Smack, Renee Young asked Daniel Bryan if Heath would still be signed if he and Rhyno lost their titles, and Bryan was unsure. I think they’re planting the seeds for a loss and a lengthy title run for the Usos, and make Heath Slater work a bit harder to be officially signed.
Nick: I’m actually picking Heath Slater and Rhyno to retain here. They need a solid title defense under their belts, even though there’s really no reason to keep the belts on them anymore. I say Slater and Rhyno retain, then The Usos win the rematch on Smackdown the next Tuesday and take the belts. Then, the team can implode and Rhyno can retire again.
Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler: Title vs. Dolph’s Career
Adam: I’m honestly so torn here, there’s no way they take the belt off of Miz, but this can’t really be Dolph Ziggler’s last match, can it? All of that said, I’m gonna pick Miz to retain and say thank you to Dolph Ziggler for always working harder than anyone else to provide the best entertainment possible for us, the fans.
Nick: Honestly, I think that the WWE is trying to swerve us. They know we all read the dirt sheets and listen to the Internet rumors, and all of the rumors are saying that Dolph’s contract is ending and he’s not re-signing. I don’t think that this is how he’ll go out, and we’ll have a new Intercontinental Champion.
WWE World Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose
Adam: I don’t think there’s any chance that AJ loses in his first PPV defense, but look for a possible heel turn for Dean Ambrose here to begin a long term feud with Cena.
Nick: I’ve definitely got AJ Styles retaining. So many of us have been wanting to see AJ Styles as WWE Champion for a while, and I think he’s going to keep it for now. He can put on such great matches, and having him defend the title just makes those matches that much more interesting. AJ will get a lengthy run if WWE is smart.
