NFL Week 4 Recap

Cincinnati Bengals vs Miami Dolphins

It was the A.J. Green show Thursday night. Green had 10 receptions for 173 yards and 1 touchdown. Andy Dalton also had a good game, throwing for 296 yards and 1 touchdown. After scoring a TD in the first quarter, Miami scored no more. Cincy 22 Miami 7.

Top performer: WR, A.J. Green. 10 receptions for 173 yards and 1 touchdown.

Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags finally looked like the team many people expected them to be. Their young defense held the Colts to only 6 points threw the first 3 quarters. Blake Bortles threw 2 touchdowns and no interceptions in the game. The Jags also ran for 136 yards as a team. The Colts scored 21 in the 4th but the fell short of the comeback. Jags 30 Indy 27.

Top performer: QB, Blake Bortles. 19/33, 207 yards, 2 passing TDs, and 1 rushing TD.

Oakland Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens

Oakland’s Derek Carr played phenomenally, throwing for 4 touchdowns. Joe Flacco threw for 298 yards and 1 touchdown so both QBs played very well. It was a close low scoring game going into the 4th (14-12 Oakland). In the 4th both teams offenses clicked. Baltimore was up 27-21 with 3:36 left in the game. Oakland would come down and take the lead on a 23 yard pass from Carr to Crabtree with 2:12 left. The Ravens turned it over on downs the next possession to pretty much end the game. Oakland 28, Baltimore 27.

Top performer: QB, Derek Carr. 25/35, 199 yards and 4 touchdowns.

New England Patriots vs Buffalo Bills

The Patriots looked flat on Sunday. They could get nothing going on offense. Scoring NO points. Also, credit the Bills defense who caused 4 fumbles. Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor had a pretty good game, throwing for 246 yards and 1 touchdown. Buffalo 16 New England 0.

Top performer: Buffalo defense. No points allowed, 4 fumbles caused.

Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons

Name a more iconic duo than Matt Ryan and Julio Jones… I’ll wait… These two went OFF against the Panthers or whoever those guys in Carolina are. They’re off to a 1-3 start and that is very surprising, but back to Ryan and Jones. Ryan was 28/37 for 503 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Julio caught 12 passes for 300 yards and 1 touchdown. Completely insane. Falcons 48 Panthers 33.

Top performers: Yep, the Falcons get two for this game. WR, Julio Jones, 12 receptions, 300 yards and one touchdown. QB, Matt Ryan, 28/37, 503 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears

If any QB in this match up was going to throw for 300 yards it would be Matt Stafford right? Wrong. Brian Hoyer went 28/36 for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns. Stafford didn’t play very well at all, throwing for 213 yards, no touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Bears RB, Jordan Howard ran for 111 yards on 23 carries.

Top performer: QB, Brian Hoyer. 28/36, 302 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Houston Texans vs Tennessee Titans

High scoring first half, low scoring second half. In the first half both teams combined for 37 points. In the second just 10 points combined. Marcus Mariota struggled, completing only 13 of 29 passes. Brock Osweiler was decent, 25/37, 254 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Demarco Murray played well, running for 95 yards and scoring twice, but that wasn’t enough. Texans 27 Titans 20.

Top performer: WR, Will Fuller. 7 receptions, 81 yards and 1 touchdown.

Cleveland Browns vs Washington Redskins

In the first half both teams took turns dominating a quarter. The first quarter belonged to the Skins who scored 14 points and the second was all Cleveland who scored 17. The second half the Browns only scored 3 points. QB, Cody Kessler was 28/40 for 223 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Kirk Cousins played well, throwing for 183 yards and 3 scores. RB, Matt Jones played well also, running for 117 yards and 1 score. Skins 31 Browns 20.

Top performer: RB, Matt Jones. 22 carries, 117 yards and 1 touchdown.

Seattle Seahawks vs New York Jets

Ryan Fitzpatrick just won’t stop throwing interceptions. He threw 3 more this game, 2 of them were caught by Richard Sherman. Obviously the Jets couldn’t throw the ball very well, they couldn’t run well either. Only gaining 58 yards as a team on the ground. Russell Wilson was lights out, throwing for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jimmy Graham had a good game as well, catching 6 passes for 113 yards. Seattle 27 Jets 17

Denver Broncos vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Saying the Broncos defense is elite would be an understatement. Bucs QB, Jameis Winston literally could do nothing. He was 17/35 for 179 yards, no scores and 2 interceptions. Both interceptions caught by Aqib Talib. Denver also caused two fumbles, recovering one of them. Paxton Lynch got most of the snaps for Denver at QB due to Trevor Siemian being injured. Lynch was 14/20 for 170 yards and a touchdown. Denver 27 Bucs 7.

Top performer: Denver defense. 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 7 points allowed.

Los Angeles Rams vs Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals turned the ball over 5 times in the game. Credit to the Rams defense for locking up a pretty talented offense. They caused 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles. Carson Palmer was injured in the game but prior to that he wasn’t bad, throwing for 288 yards and 1 touchdown. Although he did fumble and throw a interception. After the Rams took a 17-13 lead with 2:36 in the 4th quarter, the Cardinals had two possessions to take the lead back. They threw 2 interceptions. Rams 17 Cardinals 13.

Top performer: Rams defense. 13 points allowed, 3 interceptions, 2 fumbles.

San Diego Chargers vs New Orleans Saints

There’s no way the Chargers could lose their 3rd 4th quarter lead of the season… Could they? San Diego was up 34-21 with 8 minutes left. A Melvin Gordon fumble with 6 minutes left started the chaos all over again for SD. The Saints would score after that fumble, next San Diego possession guess what? Another fumble. Saints take the lead on the next possession 35-34. That would be the final… Saints 35 Chargers 34.

Top performer: QB, Drew Brees. 23/36, 207 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers

The Dallas rookies showed off AGAIN! Dak Prescott went 23/32 for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns. Ezekiel Elliot ran wild, gaining 138 yards and 1 touchdown on 23 carries. San Francisco played a good first half but only scored 3 points in the second half. Dallas 24 San Fran 17.

Top performer: RB, Ezekiel Elliot. 23 carries, 138 yards and 1 touchdown.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Le’Veon Bell came back from suspension HARD. Bell ran for 144 yards averaging EIGHT (8.0) yards a carry. Big Ben went off as well, completing 22/27 passes for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. It was a massacre all game long. The Chiefs didn’t score until the 4th quarter. Steelers 43 Chiefs 14.

Top performer: QB, Ben Roethlisberger. 22/27, 300 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Minnesota Vikings vs New York Giants

The Vikings defense proved why they are elite again this week. Eli Manning was 25/45, no touchdowns and one interception. Minnesota not only shut down the pass, but also shut down the run. Only allowing the Giants to run for 78 yards as a team. CB, Xavier Rhodes seemed to get into Odell Beckham’s head kind of like how Josh Norman does it. Odell was shut down, only catching 3 passes for 23 yards. Vikings QB, Sam Bradford played very good again, throwing for 262 yards, 1 touchdown and completed 26 of 36 passes. Vikings 24 Giants.

Top performer: Vikings defense, 1 interception, 1 fumble, 10 points allowed.
